Xyfex Media has finished designing and developing the website of the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations today.  It was a big undertaking, and we are very pleased about the finished product.

CASA is a non-profit lobby group representing student associations across Canada.   The goal of the project was to create an easy to manage, professional looking website that appeals to the organization's various stakeholders.  While being "hip" for students, it needs to be formal enough for politicians and the media.

The internet can be used as a tool to reach potential customers, and best of all it can be done for free! Advertising in the classified section of your local newspaper, can cost you around $50 a week.  On the internet, there are ways to reach potentially limitless customers, for free!

With a CMS such as Drupal or Joomla, users can configure their website in almost any fashion they desire. Configurable features include the theme of the website and the layout of the different content blocks. Themes are installed as simple plugins or "skins", allowing a website to take on a completely different look with a single click.

In our opinion, a lot of sites on the web are poorly designed.  The fact that you are a small or medium business should not make up for your site's awfulness.  Why are people still using these things? We don't know, we like to refer to them as the 7 wonders of the web.  Here is our top 7 list of out-dated, annoying stuff you can find on some web sites.  These might have been cool in 1997, but today these are big "no-noes".
